ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores the contradictions between the complexity of the world around us, and our unfailing drive to put it in order. This fundamental tension takes the form of certain opposing forces and processes in my drawings and paintings: The spontaneous vs. the carefully considered; the geometric vs. the organic; the grid vs. the gestural mark; attempts to obscure and to expose; constant alternation between the application and removal of material.
